Exercise is healthy. This not only makes you feel much fitter and healthier, but you also reduce the risk of all kinds of (affluence) diseases. Half an hour of exercise every day is enough. For example, cycle to work, walk during your lunch break, go gardening, jog after work or choose another exercise activity. As long as you do what you like. We mention some positive effects of regular exercise.

1. You reduce stress

Exercise is healthy. Especially if you suffer from stress. Because, do you move? Then you focus on your breathing and the movements you make. That gives you peace of mind. At the same time, your body produces endorphins, among other things, during moderate to intensive exercise. These happiness hormones are known to fight stress hormones and make you feel much better physically.

2. You keep your heart healthy

Are you moving? Then it has a beneficial effect on your heart and blood vessels. Because, regular exercise makes your heart stronger. The result: it pumps blood through your body more efficiently. That blood then provides the supply of oxygen to your muscles and organs. And the more you move, the better your body absorbs oxygen. And as a result, you can eventually function better again. Being in full motion also prevents your arteries from clogging up, your blood pressure remains low and you reduce the risk of diabetes and elevated cholesterol. In short: exercise is healthy for your body.

3. You sleep better

Do you have trouble sleeping? Then start exercising more. Not only do you fall asleep faster, but you also sleep better. An additional advantage? You are more rested during the day and that benefits your concentration and productivity. By the way, don’t exercise shortly before you go to bed, because then you are too energetic to fall asleep.

4. You strengthen your bones

As you age, your bones become more brittle. That’s a fact. Do you want to counteract this so-called osteoporosis? Then exercise regularly for a healthy bone density. Exercise activities where your bones have to carry your weight are especially good. Think of brisk walking, running, steps or fitness. These exercise activities contribute to healthy bone mass. A sport like swimming is less suitable, because you don’t put any strain on your bones.

5. You get more energy

Are you tired after a long day at work? Then you probably don’t think about exercising. Too bad! Because, are you going to exercise? Then you boost your energy level. When you move, your heart and lungs work to circulate blood through your body and you get more oxygen. The result? You get more energy. Give it a try. Exercise more regularly for a few weeks and feel the difference. You can be sure that you will discover: exercise is healthy, because you feel more energetic!

6. Maintaining or losing weight

Regular exercise helps you maintain your weight or lose some pounds. After all, when you exercise, you crank up your metabolism and ensure its optimal functioning. That’s nice, because that’s how you burn the calories you take in every day. On the other hand, exercise contributes to maintaining or building your muscle mass. And that’s good, because the more muscles, the more energy your body burns. In short, plenty of exercise contributes to a healthy weight or helps to lose weight.

7. You feel more confident

Do you exercise several times a week? Then you produce positive hormones. But not only that: you also strengthen your muscles, which makes you feel tighter in your skin. Moreover, by building muscle mass, your posture improves. Furthermore, your skin looks fresher because the blood circulation works better. All that together makes you feel much more confident and happier with your body. It even boosts your sex drive, because you are more satisfied with yourself.

Regular exercise is healthy, as we explained above. Especially if you combine that with, among other things, healthy plus varied food and get your rest on time. And can you do that? We are curious.
