Fish oil in triglyceride form with a very low TOTOX value
Fish oil is naturally made up of triglycerides, fat molecules that consist of three fatty acid chains linked to a glycerol molecule. This triglyceride form is also found in our blood and plays an important role in energy production, among other things. Many fish oil supplements consist of ethyl esters (EE) in which one fatty acid molecule is linked to one ethanol molecule.
An important advantage of the natural form of fish oil is that it is recognized earlier by our body and is therefore absorbed faster and easier because it is a body’s own substance. That is why we believe that Fish Oil Premium TG 1000 mg with no less than 320 mg EPA and 210 mg DHA should not be missing from our range.
Sustainability
We have deliberately chosen MSC-certified fish oil from AlaskOmega®. This fish oil comes from wild pollock that is caught in the cold, pure waters of the Bering Sea. The Alaskan Pollock fishery is one of the longest existing fisheries in the world and has a bycatch rate of less than 1%, partly due to sustainable fishing processes.
TOTOX value: fresh and pure
In Alaska, the trimmings of the pollock are sorted by hand and processed into crude fish oil. This is all done within hours of being caught for maximum freshness. It is then shipped airtight to America and the crude fish oil is then transported to Ohio in special airtight train wagons.
There, the family business Wiley Companies takes care of the careful purification and concentration process. They do this using inert gas and with minimal exposure to heat to ensure extremely low oil oxidation levels with optimal quality. It is important that the fish oil is stored as airtight as possible during the entire process from manufacture to end product. This has to do with the so-called total oxidation value of the fish oil, which is also called the TOTOX value.
Exceptionally low total TOTOX
Our high-quality Fish Oil Premium TG 1000 mg has an exceptionally low TOTOX value of between 0 and 5. In comparison, according to the European directive, this value may not exceed 30. The lower the TOTOX value, the fresher and more stable in quality the oil. To keep the freshness of our Fish Oil Premium TG 1000 mg optimal, vitamin E in natural D-alpha tocopherol form has been added as an antioxidant.
No problems with fish regurgitation
Unsaturated fatty acids are sensitive to oxidation when they come into contact with oxygen. As a result, after taking a fish oil supplement, a fishy taste or smell can be experienced in case of regurgitation. Many people find this annoying. Because our Fish Oil Premium TG 1000 mg is minimally exposed to oxygen during transport and production, it is super fresh and there is hardly any chance of this.
